Chapter Guide

IV. Improving Memory: Tricks and Tools
You will remember information more successfully if you organize the material so that you integrate it, connecting it to information you already know. Mnemonic devices include interactive images, the method of loci, the pegword system, rhyming words, hierarchical organization, and acronyms. Memory retrieval can be improved by reinstating the environment where the information was learned, shutting out distractions, continuing to try, remembering characteristics of the information, and using external cues.
