I recently fantasized about one of my fondest childhood memories: the wonderful smells and mouth-watering dishes my mother used to make. The memories of sweet-smelling cinnamon buns in the morning, a hot lunch of real cream of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, and the tasty dinner of beef pot-roast with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy followed by homemade chocolate cake all had my hunger pangs in high gear. Wouldn't my family love all of this? Wouldn't it be fun to give them a taste of yesterday? Imagine my dismay when I realized the number of fat grams in each of these delicious, delightful memories of my childhood! What have we become?
